I BC'd this morning.

As of Saturday May 29, 2010, 3.57am I am 100% natural.

Excuse the picture. It was taken at 3.24am.
I still had the whole back to do. In this picture I have a ponytail in the back.

I'm extremely tired so I'm making this brief. I just wanted to let you all know.
I'll be back with more info sometime today when I actually know what's going on.

A true transition.

Not only is my hair transitioning from relaxed to natural but my mindset is also transitioning. As I was doing my hair a few minutes ago (I didn't even finish because I just had to share) I was putting a little gel on my edges to smooth them down and get them as flat as possible. Even at about 9 months of transitioning, my mindset is still on relaxed. I want to go natural but sometimes I want a relaxed look. When I do achieve the task of getting my edges as flat as possible, as soon as I go outside for a few hours, they are right back to being frizzy. I find myself getting frustrated because I've worked so hard to get this look as if I had a relaxer. I continuously have to remind myself that this is what comes with being natural, texture.

Also, when I started transitioning, I had no idea why. Because I wanted longer healthy hair? Because I wanted curls just as easily as washing my hair? Just because?
Well over this journey, I've realized I'm doing it because I need that confidence and self pride. I need to feel good about myself no matter if my hair is relaxed at APL or a natural TWA. I have to realize that I'm beautiful no matter how my hair looks or what anyone thinks of me.

10 more days until BC. :)

Update.

A little over 2 weeks until my BC. I've been co-washing a lot more lately and I deep conditioned. I'll DC again need week before graduation.

Should I be nervous to BC because my natural hair is longer more so towards my edges than the natural hair at the crown of my head? I really don't want the illusion that I'm balding...

Also, my headbands came in last Wednesday. I tried them all on and was going to take pics to show yall but Ill wait until I'm fully natural. :)

XXI headbands.

I'm already preparing for my BC by getting things to spice up my look. I don't just want a boring ole' TWA therefore Ive been online shopping and on the lookout for cute hair accessories.
I purchased the following online from XXI (Forever21):

$3.80

$1.50

& I got something similar to this, but it obviously isn't this because the website didn't have it up any more.
It was a set of two denim headbands with bows but they don't look like shoestrings like the one above does.
Price, $2.80.

Next on my list.

$3.80

$4.80

$3.80

$4.80

$5.80

I'm very excited now. :)

Exactly a month from today...

...I will be a fully natural 18 year old!

*screams and shakes booty around* : D

WEN® Healthy Hair Care System

We transitioners and naturals know that shampoo strip our hair from their natural oils leaving it dry, dull and brittle. Over the past few months of learning more about my hair, I've began to talk to other about it. I've tried to explain to people that shampoo isn't good for their hair (whites and blacks) and that conditioner is really all you need because it still cleanses while retaining natural oils and moisture. Everyone I've explained this to looked at me as if I were crazy. The looks on their faces were "She only washes with conditioner ? Her hair is nasty . " Seriously.

I came across the WEN® Healthy Hair Care System just about 30 minutes ago.

The cleansers are made with natural ingredients, and contain no sodium laurel sulfate or other damaging detergents found in shampoos. They don’t lather; rather, they create smooth foam when mixed with water. "

Hair Repair Mask

I personally will not be buying it because the cash is definitely not flowing right now. Haha. I just wanted to let yall know that there is a product specific to co washing. But if someone has tried or will try it please let me know because I probably in the future may give it a try. For now I'll stick to my Suave and VO5. I'm just glad that word is getting out that shampoo is evil! :)

I reconsidered.

(formspring)

"I'm really disappointed that you aren't doing "the big chop". I think you have great style and the haircut will be the icing on top of the cake. With your bone structure it will look great. Reconsider it please. I know you'll love it :)"

Awwww thank you so much!
But I actually changed my mind...again.
I am going through with the BC as originally planned.
I was going to announce on my blog today actually.
Beat me to the punch. :)
_______________________________________________________

I know I said I was going to BC in August but I've just been eager to see what my natural hair is like that I just can't wait that long. Today, the thought came across me quite a few times to just get it over with but I'd rather go one more month and get it done on my 18th birthday.

To Anon, thanks for the comment. I really appreciate it. & thanks for the bone structure compliment. :) Love ya!

PS.- If any of you have any other questions or comments feel free to let me know. The formspring box is to your right. Looking forward to hearing from you...no really I am. :)

I've been looking for a good gel to use on my baby hair and I can across a user on Youtube (poisonflowerivy) and she said she used this on hers. She used a toothbrush like I always do so I figured it will work for me.
I read the ingredients and saw that it didn't have any alcohol and it claims not to flake so I thought I'd give it a try.

Well I'll tell you one thing, it doesnt flake BUT
it left white crap all on my forehead and ishh!
It like dries white or something, I dont know.
I wouldn't call it flaking either because its not like a flake
it's more like, okay you know how after you brush your teeth you have the white in the corners of your mouth, well its like that. Lol.

I hate it.
